Nicole Ari Parker, an American actor, who has appeared in film and television in addition to on stage, is most well-known for portraying Teri Joseph, the fiery attorney featured in Showtime's Soul Food. Contractor who was brought up by his parents from Nigeria and Mumbai when he was seven, had traveled around all over the world and had a taste of diverse cultures when he was a kid. From the age of seven until nine, Contractor attended boarding schools in London. Her family then relocated to Toronto and she resided there throughout her early years. Contractor trained in classical ballet in Toronto. Additionally, she excelled academically. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts which is a highly specialized public arts high school in which she not only danced but also studied theater. Contractor was inspired to pursue acting more seriously at age 16 after almost 10 year of dance. After graduating high school, Contractor received a scholarship from the University of Toronto to pursue an undergraduate degree in psychology and sociology. In addition, she obtained a master's degree in Theater. Contractor auditioned at the prestigious Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, Canada, for Pericles. After one full year, she was given the lead part. After 92 performances, she received positive reviews. The production was recognized as the top production in Canada by the critics. The conservatory in Stratford accepts eight men as well as four females along with a couple of other people for a 20 weeks of crash courses. The actress's spot in the next play season was secured and she won the role as Hermia.
